Morning everyone and welcome to the long Easter weekend – thanks for your visit today. What have you been up to so far this morning?
While you are reading this, I’m on my way to Beverley in East Yorkshire to see the In-laws. It will be a long day as we are coming back this afternoon.
I must share this photo of my garden as the Clemtatis Amandaii is in full bloom and looks lovely. You can see it over the shed where I do my crafting :).
Now onto my ATC which I have created to enter these Challenges
over on the Artist Trading Post whose theme is Trading Post. There was lots of inspiration on their blog but basically what does it conjour in you mind. I was drawn to thinking of the cowboy films I would watch with my grandparents whom both loved them.
Also entering the challenge at stamps and Stencils whose theme is anything goes
To start I distressed a Kraft ATC card with Weathered Wood and Chalk Finish Acrylic from DecoArt. Once dry I rubbed Burnt Umber Antiquing Cream into the cracks and once dry wiped off with a damp cloth. I applied some Vaseline in areas I wanted the cream to stay and painted the rest with Burnt Umber Media Fluid. Once dry I wiped off Vaseline which acted as a resist for the paint.
I used some broken bits of bark and painted them with Quinacridone Gold
I added some stamping from Paper Artsy and then wrote my title as I was turning the card into a trading notice. Imagine it hanging from a board advertising wares and goodies. I included some post stamps some writing and mans head in top hat all denoting ‘old’ to fit with the Era.
I fixed the frame onto the card
I hope you like my first ATC. I loved this challenge and look forward to more.

Holy cow, what a gorgeous outdoor space you have…I would never go inside if I had a little area like that!! Your ATC is outstanding! I love that you used real pieces of nature and your background is fabulous! I have never heard of using Vaseline as a resist, I will be trying that one for sure! hugs :)
Congrats on your first ATC it is sensational Debs as is the view of your clematis, how old is your plant it looks very well established indeed, i do hope it has an aroma too.Great idea for the ATP theme and your rusting technique is wowser. Never mind the atc – that's gorgeous, love all that rusty look! but your shed – well the clematis – is beautiful!! what a lovely place to sit and craft. How do you ever go back inside?!
