#3Up I'm getting painty

Hello everyone, thanks for visiting me today as I can now share that I have a journal page being shown over on the Paper Artsy blog.  I was thrilled that I was picked and knew straight away, that I wanted to play with paint. The group I was in was determined by colour scheme, and included Dee Adams Dounia Large and was coordinated by the very talented Jo Myhill.

The Pallette we chose was Stone, Concrete, Slate and Lichen –  so sit back with a nice cup of tea and read on :).
I used Paper Artsy Fresco Acrylics, Archival Ink, background stencils, butterflies from IndigoBlu and a background stamp from Paper Artsy.
I started with the darkest colours which I brayered onto my card which was heavy Smoothy card.
I quickly spritzed the paint which allowed it to run.
The layers were built up using the same stencils and stamps
I continued to build layers until I felt I had enough.
Then added my feature which I stamped and then painted with the green I had made up. It looks darker because of the underneath paint which has added the depth.
I outlined the butterfly with a Stabilo All and activated it with a little water on a small brush. To finish I stencilled the word
Thanks for you visit and I hope you enjoyed seeing how this was created. Take care and enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend.
Big hugs Debs xxx

  1. Hi Debs loved your page & your butterfly just lifts from the page, the build up of your background it all works so well. I really have enjoyed being part of the very talented 3UP team, and working with such a brilliant colour pallet. Cheers Dee x

  2. Thanks you so much Deborah for sharing your technique here. I so love the way you created the butterfly with so much depth – it's just breath-taking: I love that green! Your background is gorgeous too with the fantastic brayering and dripping. You have used the colour palette so well and made a great start to 3UP. Really enjoyed both looking at it on the PA blog and following it more closely on your blog – perfect! xxx

  3. Congrats on being chosen for the 3UP Debs! Jo chose lovely colours and your interpretation is outstanding. Loving your use of textures and how your Stabilo All pencil helped your butterfly pop off the page. Great start! :-) xxx

  4. This is fabulous Debs, love the colours you have used and the way they work together! I would not have thought of using these colours but your page is stunning. I have got to get myself one of the Stabilo pen/pencils – not sure where to look though lol! Karen x

  5. oh Debs, this is just fantastic! That green is just gorgeous and I love how you've used the other colours in the palette! Well done on getting picked for this #3up project.
