Hello everyone, thanks for joining me on the first of my Christmas posts for Country View Crafts. It’s an anything goes challenge as long as long as it relates to Christmas, so lots of possibilities.
My first post of course is a card 😊
Before we get started, I’d like to talk a little about the Cricut Joy. I have been looking at it since it was released, as a designer I love to cut my designs rather than use dies from other designers, and this little machine can help me with many of my projects. I love my Maker for bigger projects but of ten feel its not worth setting up just to cut a sentiment etc whereas the the Joy is compact enough to sit on my desk and be ready in seconds. It cannot do all the Maker can so it is definitely an addition, not a replacement.
It has many of the functions of the Maker, for example can use smart materials, as well as traditional vinyls both HTV and glue backed, it can infusible inks (my new love) and can even write so its really a great all rounder. It literally took me 5 minutes to set up and start using straight from the box. So far I cannot find any negative points as I absolutely love it. ( I was not given this machine, I purchased it and all my thoughts are my own)
So onto my card
It is a very simple card which I cut on my Cricut Joy (my first project) I was so pleased with it and look forward to many hours of pleasure for the smaller project. It uses the same programme on the computer so I was able to use a tree I designed last year.
So I started in Design Space with designing the card. I used an image from design space to cut the corner slits which holds the background card, and inserted my tree. I used the fonts to write my the sentiment and converted it to a cut file.
The Joy has a mat specific for cards which allows you to cut the out side without touching the back. Once it was cut I added the back card, which in this case was gold foil I secured it through the slits cut out on the front. I added some vinyl stickers to add some more interest and a bow to finish it off.
Let’s take another look
And here’s another I made.
take care and see you soon
hugs
