Sparkle and Shine

Hello everyone, today have a very quick project for you, showing a different way to add sparkle and shine, which I hope you will enjoy.

I am an avid journaller/planner fan, as some of you may know. I haven’t touched my larger art journals for some time but dive into my Archer and Olive note Journal regularly. It’s here that I use book marks which gave me the idea for this months tutorial. i am a lover of glitter and all things shiny and so thought it would be nice to glam up my note book with a huge shiny bow/bookmark. So lets gets started.

Below is what I made, of course you could make smaller ones to use as actual bows for the hair, but these are fairly large. In addition, because i was enjoying myself so much creating i made some traditional ones as well.

I used faux leather for this project but you could easily use material, or card would also work. So using my Cricut Maker I cut the piece out that needed. I used 2 A4 pieces of material one shiny and one glitter I then mixed and matched them to create the two tone affect

Taking the longest piece, turn it over so the wrong side is facing you and fold both ends into the middle and secure wrong side to wrong side with hot glue. Line this up onto the next longest piece with right side facing you and again secure in the middle with hot glue. Turn it over so wrong side is facing and dab some hot glue in the middle and attach the grip. Lastly take the the smallest piece and wrap it around the middle and secure to both the back of the bow and the grip. This ensures the grip is attached to both parts of the bow.

The finished bow

Repeating the process i finished the second bow

And hers a couple of pics of how to use them

The other bookmarks were made in a similar way, I cut them on my Maker, attached the metal fastening and then applied hot glue on the wrong side and folded the other half onto the glue forming a seal. Attached the tassel and that was it very quick and very simple.

Let’s take a last look.

And there you go, I hope you enjoyed this quicky tutorial, I would love you to subscribe to my blog so that you get notified the next time I upload.

take care

hugs
