hello everyone, as many of you may know I’m a cat lover. Our fur baby born on my birthday, moved in with us in October 2008 and has brought us so much joy. He is a real darling, demanding and fussy, delightful and bossy, but we love him to bits. So when Rachel chose cat and or dogs for this months theme for the challenge over at Country View Crafts I was In my happy place.
so I put my thinking cat sorry cap on and came up with this

o to start I drew a Cat on Procreate , first I drew the outline and saved it as a png file, next I filled in and saved that too. I then uploaded them separately to Design Space.

I then drew some paws and made a pattern , initially I was going to turn it into a stencil (at this point I had exactly decided what I was going to make), but as I came into my studio with a cuppa I saw this hanging sign on the side. I’d been meaning to do something with it for ages and as I sat to drink my cuppa,
an idea came to me.

I rubbed it down and then gave 3 coats of chalk acrylic paint

While it was drying I planned rest of my project, I had my cat, and a pattern both of which was in Design Space so I decided on iron on. I thought i’d do the inside of my cat in pattern vinyl (I had It ages but not used it yet) and the outside in glitter iron on. Instead of turning the paws into a stencil I decided to cut them out in two different coloured glitter iron on And place them around the cat.

next I needed a saying And came up with Today is a Purrfect Day, I know nothing Too original here lol. I set It up in Design Space and chose my fonts. I love to use two different fonts for my sayings as I think this adds interest.
I set everything to cut the size I wanted then set up my mat with the relevant vinyls and then pressed go.

first I applied the cat,

‘i’d actually lost most of the outline as the line was to thin for it to be cut successfully from the glitter. I’ve left it in as I think It’s useful to see mistakes as well as success. I made It work! I used My 6×6 heat press on 165C for 30 sec, this should have been 150C for the patterned vinyl, but by now I was getting tired and making mistakes, as I should have done the patterned last also.
I then added the saying,

I then started placing the paws. funning looking paws I know, but I wanted some different. The dark pink vinyl was from Cricut, it cut nicely and weeded (came away from the carrier sheet) really well and didn’t leave any glitter behind where as the light pink was awful. It was a cheap one I bought online but its not worth it sometime, the glitter was all over the carrier sheet and so I had to but around each group or paw print to avoid getting glitter everywhere. Compare the two!

Once everything was added I let It cool down.

I then restrung it and hung it in place.
lets take another look.

Hope Ive inspired you to play along.
