It’s Christmas Time

Mistletoe and wine…

Although I’m not a Winter (the season) person I do love Christmas, and I differentiate, as my youngest granddaughter is called Winter and of course I love her to bits lol.

Hello everyone it’s that time of the month where a new challenge begins over at Country View Crafts and of course as its December it’s Christmas.

Now one of the reason I love Christmas is because as a crafter I love to make home decor pieces and this year I had so many ideas for christmas. The first I share here but I’ll share others on Facebook and Instagram as we go through the month. The other thing I love to do is come up with new and interesting themes for Christmas cards. This year I’m fortunate enough to have my cards being sold in my local town so if you are visiting Penrith check out Cafe V where my artwork and cards can be purchased at very reasonable prices.

So the home decor piece I made first is this wood slice wreath.

I have a box in my studio full of Christmasy things so I took some out for inspiration

I didn’t use it all but I like to work this way and let ideas form.

I started with the slices, I had a different idea which I’ll try next but wanted to make something from them so played with them for a while. First I was going to make a tree bug then this idea popped into my head.

I did consider painting the slices but love the rustic look.

I laid the first layer down and then using hot glue secured one slice over the two bottom ones all the way round. This allowed me to form a circle which was very stable.

Now my preference was to leave them rustic, but you could paint them, spray them, add glitter to suit your personal style.

I also knew I wanted to keep it simple so chose some of my glittery ribbon in two styles, one velvet and one chiffon, both with gold edging and wire. I formed large bows and secured with another ribbon made from jute and lace, adding to the rustic feel. I secured this to the top of the wreath and added some berries and leaves. I also secured a hanging tag at the back so it can be hung up.

I tried several such as the cones, more flowers, leaves etc, around the wreath but felt it looked best with a single spray st the bottom so that’s what I went with.

Let’s have a last look and some close ups.

I love how this came out and hope you like it too.

See you soon Hugs
